The VUE project is focused on creating flexible tools for managing and integrating digital resources in support of teaching, learning and research. Het internet heeft ons besef van tijd wezenlijk veranderd. Op het net is alles real time, dicht op de huid van de toekomst. E-mails vergaan niet, staan altijd in de tegenwoordige tijd en suggereren een permanente staat van nu, waarin het onderscheid tussen gisteren, vandaag en morgen voorgoed is vervaagd. Toch bestaat er nog een wereld zonder internet en in die wereld staat zelfs het nu soms stil – mensen gaan namelijk dood.

Het gebruik van social media door bedrijven is minder volwassen dan veel berichtgeving doet geloven. Er zijn relatief weinig mensen betrokken bij de activiteiten en meestal is de organisatie is er niet op ingericht. Dit blijkt uit onderzoek dat internet adviesbureau Jungle Minds recent uitvoerde onder 155 Nederlandse bedrijven en instellingen.

Negen van de 21 Zweedse provincies verbieden hun ambtenaren sociale internetsites te gebruiken tijdens en voor hun werk. Zes van die negen hebben de toegang tot onder meer Facebook op werkstations geblokkeerd. Dat meldde de Zweedse commerciële omroep TV4 vandaag na eigen onderzoek.

iPhone apps straks ook op andere mobieltjes beschikbaar

Je kunt het zo gek niet bedenken of "there's an app for that"! Tot voor kort was dit alleen weggelegd voor iPhone gebruikers. Daar moet nu verandering in komen. De iPhone heeft, naast natuurlijk het design (waar over te twisten valt) en het gebruikersgemak, een hele grote voorsprong op ander smartphones: apps! Tal van applicaties maken de iPhone bijna onvervangbaar. Kijkend naar het straatbeeld zou je het niet verwachten, maar er zijn ook nog hele volkstammen die geen iPhone hebben. Voor deze mensen is er nu ook toegang tot de iPhone app's.
