Op dinsdag 22 juni ondertekenden in Arnhem tien (overheids-)bedrijven en diensten in de afvalbranche, de brancheorganisatie NVRD en NOiV, een convenant om open standaarden toe te passen in de container-en pasmanagement. De ondertekenaars, die gezamenlijk 3,7 miljoen inwoners van Nederland bedienen, streven naar standaardprotocollen voor de uitwisseling van gegevens ten behoeve van het beheer van minicontainers en van ondergrondse verzamelsystemen. Uiteindelijke doel van het 'convenant-genootschap' is om te komen tot verbeterde prestaties tegen lagere kosten.
